Hibs and Aberdeen learn about Europa Conference League play-off opponents as Dons face potential return to Cyprus

Hibs and Aberdeen are out of the hat in the draw for the final qualifying match for the Europa Conference League – and that’s a mixed bag in terms of their potential play-off opponents.

The Dons were drawn against AEL Limassol of Cyprus or Qarabag on the Azerbaijani side, if they managed to beat the Icelandic minnows Breidablik.

Hibs has a more difficult task to qualify for the final round as they face Croatian cracks Rijeka first.

But if they get the job done, it’s either the Irish opposition in the form of Bohemians or Greece’s PAOK.

Both potential ties look delicate on paper and the Hibees would likely prefer the Dublin squad to be upset rather than face an intimidating day in Thessaloniki.

Stephen Glass could take his stars to Cyprus, four years after facing AEL rivals Apollon Limassol in the Europa League and the dismal reception fans, players and officials have received in the same city.

Celtic and St Johnstone have also discovered their potential opponents should they fail in their Europa League games against Jablonec and Galatasaray.

The Parkhead giants will face Tobol Kostanay or MSK Zilina – respectively from Kazakhstan and Slovakia – while the Saints will face Vojvodina or LASK Linz.
