FORMER Tottenham star Jamie O’Hara has called the Europa Conference League a “Dog and Duck Cup”.
The former midfielder also claims he doesn’t care about the competition following Spurs’ 1-0 loss to Portuguese Pacos de Ferreira.
O’Hara said talk about SPORT: “I gave it to the Arsenal fans, calling them Banter FC, then we’re going to get beaten up by a chocolate bar.
“Ferrero Rocher 1 Spurs 0, embarrassing. But I don’t care. It’s the Dog and Duck Cup. Who wants to be there anyway?”
O’Hara’s opinion on “Banter FC” came on Wednesday as he discussed Arsenal’s transfer policy with talkSPORT co-host Jason Cundy.
The 34-year-old has been ridiculed on social media for his comments after making more than half of his 56 Spurs appearances in cup competitions.
A fan on Twitter wrote: “To be fair, this competition was O’Hara’s standard when he was playing!
While another tweeted: “He would probably run down the street naked if Spurs were going to win him.”
And one posted: “Spurs should go – it might be their only realistic chance to win a trophy this year.”
As O’Hara wrapped up his rant, co-host Cundy highlighted Harry Kane’s reported desire to leave Tottenham for rival Manchester City.
Cundy said: “And you wonder why Harry Kane wants to leave? Kane is sitting at home staring at that guts, thinking, ‘Maybe I should play in this competition. ”
“He watches you play a rolled up scent with a chocolate bar and he thinks, ‘Maybe I should don a Spurs jersey – to represent the club – in this competition. “
“Jay, you want to go, don’t you?” “
Despite the jokes, Pacos de Ferreira have won more trophies than Spurs in the past 13 years – winning the Portuguese second tier in 2019.
