Seven of our players have been in action for their respective loan clubs over the past week.
Read on to find out how they fared:
Congratulation to Reis Nelson, who helped Feyenoord reach the Europa Conference League final. Our winger played 88 minutes of his side’s 0-0 draw against Marseille in their semi-final second leg as Arne Slot’s men won the tie 3-2 on aggregate to advance to the final, where they will face Jose Mourinho’s Roma. Nelson also played 45 minutes as the Dutch were held 2-2 by PSV. The point failed to close the gap on their second-place opponents and keeps them third in the Eredivisie, 11 points behind league leaders Ajax with two games to go.
Matteo Guendouzi had a busy week, with twice for Marseille. Our midfielder played the entirety of the French side’s 0-0 draw with Feyenoord as Jorge Sampaoli’s men came close to reaching the Conference League final, losing 3-2 on aggregate. Guendouzi also played the full game and scored as Marseille beat Lorient 3-0. Our midfielder doubled his side’s lead in victory, receiving the ball just inside the box from Luan Peres and beating two defenders before shooting low into the bottom corner against his former club.
Guillaume Saliba also played the entirety of Marseille’s goalless draw with Feyenoord and helped his side retain their second clean sheet of the week in the win over Lorient. The three points keep Sampaoli’s side second in Ligue 1, three points clear of Monaco in third place, with two games to play.
Konstantinos Mavropanos played the entirety of Stuttgart’s 2-2 draw with 10-man Bayern Munich. The German side remain 16th in the Bundesliga and would face a relegation play-off to remain in the top flight with one game to play.
Folarin Balogun was a 62nd-minute substitute as Middlesbrough were beaten 4-1 by Preston North End. Chris Wilder’s side finished the Championship season in seventh place and missed out on a play-off spot by five points.
Pablo Mari played the full game as Udinese drew 1-1 with Sassuolo. The Italian side currently sit in 12th place in Serie A with two matches remaining.
Harry Clark played 90 minutes as Hibernian were held 1-1 by Aberdeen. Hibs remain second in the Scottish Premiership relegation table with two games remaining.
