Celtic Europa Conference League odds as bookies give Ange Postecoglou slim chance of triumph in Tirana

Celtic are on their way to Tirana, but bookies predict their Europa Conference League trip won’t go the distance.

Ange Postecoglou’s men enter UEFA’s new third-tier competition after falling out of their Europa League group with nine points.

The power of Bayer Leverkusen and Real Betis proved too strong despite beating the latter 3-2 on the final day.

Now they are in the green-tinged conference, but the chances of Celtic winning the trophy are long.

The bookies are not at all convinced by the Premiership hopefuls, but in truth they are not ready to weigh in on any particular team.

Tottenham may be on the verge of receiving a covid-related forfeit that would send them crashing out in the group stage, but as things stand they are 14/1.

Then there are nine more teams until you get to Celtic at 33/1, per Oddschecker.

AZ Alkmaar, the Postecoglou team and co. knocked out in the Europa League play-off, are better rated at 25/1.

There is a caveat to this. Because Alkmaar and others have won their group, they qualify for the last 16, while Celtic and other sides exiting the Europa League must negotiate a play-off against a Conference group runners-up.

One more tie to play will naturally mean tougher odds, although Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City are 15/1.

Overall, Celtic are pretty high up in the market and you might call that an outside boost, but there are plenty of teams above them.
