UEFA may move Europa Conference League final to Greece


UEFA are considering taking the Europa League final from Albania and moving the showpiece event to Greece, Inside soccer can reveal.

At present, the Europa Conference League final is to be played at the Arena Kombetare in the Albanian capital of Tirana, a category four stadium.

The ground beat competition from France, Greece and North Macedonia to win the right to host the Europa Conference League Final; The Pankritio stadium in Crete made a big effort.

However, UEFA are monitoring the situation in Albania, where football association chief Armand Duka is suspended, amid concerns over political interference.

They could choose to take the final away from Albania and transfer it to Greece, where Athens and Crete are options.

Jose Mourinho’s Roma are currently the favorites to win the Europa Conference League this season, while Marseille, Leicester City and Feyenoord are also seen as serious contenders.

Leicester are set to face PSV Eindhoven in the quarter-finals, while Bodo/Glimt are set to face Roma.

Feyenoord will face Slavia Prague over two legs, while Marseille are set to face PAOK Salonika, who could now aim for a final played at home.
