In a detailed account of Wednesday’s events, the Washington Post details the security loopholes that allowed the mob seeking to block Joe Biden’s certification as president from invading the seat of American democracy.

Once they crossed police lines and entered the Capitol, the report documents how protesters stormed the loudspeaker offices on the 2nd floor where eight staff were working.

Boarded up inside the room, staff members hoped that protesters “who had already broken down a door – and were rummaging through documents and taking selfies with their feet on an executive assistant’s desk – would go. no further inside, ”the Post reported.
